Edward Bear Sewing Pattern – Create Your Own Button Jointed Memory Bear (PDF Digital Download)
Introducing the Edward Bear Sewing Pattern
Meet Edward Bear, a traditional-style, button-jointed memory bear designed especially for makers who want to create their very first jointed bear.
Edward sits at 26.5cm from table top to the the top of his ear, making him slightly smaller to our other bear designs. His movable arms and legs are attached using a simple button jointing method, giving him that classic teddy-bear appearance and movement without the need for additional jointing hardware.
Our Ted was designed to make creating a traditional jointed bear feel accessible and achievable. If you've always wanted to give a jointed bear a go, but have been put off by other jointed methods, Edward is the perfect place to start. With simple construction, straightforward seams and very little hand sewing. His moving limbs are create using buttons, a long doll's needle and strong thread, making the method accessible for beginners. Edward gives you the opportunity to learn the basics of button jointing and build your confidence before progressing to more advanced jointing methods. The aim is to give you the confidence to try something new, learn how a jointed bear is constructed and discover just how achievable it can be.
And, of course, just like all of our memory bear patterns, Edward is designed to help you transform precious clothing and sentimental fabrics into a handmade heirloom to treasure.
